I have been a professional stunt driver since 1979. I am also a stunt driving instructor at the International Stunt School (1992), and the Motorsports Driving Academy (2000). I am an EVOC instructor (1983), and a counter-terrorism driving instructor (1993). I am a graduate of the British School of Motor Racing (1983), and the Jim Russell Racing School (1984). Driving is my passion, ALL driving. I am living life when I am risking it.
Would you hold a spot for me for a few weeks? I went to the paypal site today, but because our dollar is currently in the tank, the $500 deposit will cost me over $600 CAD right now... I am absolutely planning to come! Just hoping our dollar will level out a bit... I paid $46 today to the theives at the border for shipping a $100 backpad across...grrr...
Just want to double check re: the March 27-29 workshop...are you still planning a seperate one for ISS students? Or would I be better off signing up for this one?
Thanks for the air pressure information. That's pretty much what I've heard from a few different sources. I've also heard that if you're doing something aggressive like a reverse 180, it doesn't hurt to over inflate the weighted tire (right front for a clockwise reverse 180) an extra 10 pounds or so. I can't help but wonder if people on a film set get annoyed at drivers who spend too much time adjusting pressure.
I really appreciate the information. :) If you hear of any work that you think I could handle, please let me know. As nice as the state is, I would love to get out of Maine.
Matt -- You are more then welcome for the information. Hopefully it will be beneficial to you :) You are right - not much time in 3 days to cover all the things I would like to. But, here are just a few things about air pressure.
I typically run 5-10 PSI over the max limit when I am throwing a vehicle around. Some others may only run it up 5, but, I like a much stiffer sidewall to minimize sidewall roll, plus, it allows me to "feel" the vehicle a lot better. But, remember, pushing the PSI up will take away some tire contact patch so you will have less tire to drive on. But, it can, and will, help with rotation(s) because of the stiffer sidewall - no sidewall roll.
Not sure if this helps, but, thought I would throw it out there anyways :) Hope you enjoy your remaining days in Seattle!!! It was great to meet you and to watch you throw the cars around a bit . . . always a good thing!!! You have some great driving ability - hopefully it will work out that your future will be in our amazing field of driving!!!
Mr. Buckley, I have to say thanks again for all the advice. So much information to soak up! I was hit by the realization that I know so much less about driving then I thought I did. It only made me hungrier for more. :)
I was hoping I'd hear some things about air pressure, but I suppose there's only so much time in three days.
Well, it's always good to go over the basics again. It'll be nice to focus on the precision aspect as well since I haven't really had formal training in that particular area.
That sounds quite interesting. I'd love to learn that kind of thing.
I'm so excited about school in Seattle this summer! Although I wish I could focus just on driving.... but having some well rounded skills certainly isn't a bad thing.
I assume that New York and Boston have some kind of a film scene. Are there any other cities in the northeast that have enough work to make a living?
